Even with the heat, humidity and 100 + boats on the water, Lake Chotard turned out to be another solid weekend for the JBC. All of the anglers did a great job of getting to the ramp early in anticipation of the spill over affects from the big tournament going out of the Chotard Landing. Overall eight anglers weighed in limits and in total we weighed 50 fish for a total of 102.56 lbs for an average fish of 2.05 lbs. That is pretty good considering the heat and the # of boats running on the lake all day.
TJ Hare, Sr. returned with a vengeance from a two tournament hiatus due to back surgery and won the Angler division with 5 fish weighing 14.63 lbs! Even more impressive is he did this with Jr. in the back of the boat complaining all day!!! Congrats and welcome back Sr!! On the co-angler side - George Thrash pulled out back to back to back wins with 5 fish that weighed 10.74 lbs! With the win he is now ahead of Randy by 1 point in the Co-Angler race. This is going to be an exciting race to watch. Pressure will be on their respective anglers at each tournament to put them on some fish!!
Below are the top anglers from this weekend.
Angler Division:
1st Place – TJ Hare, Sr 14.63 Lbs
2nd Place – Mike Murphy 12.91 Lbs
3rd Place – Steven Bailey 11.76 Lbs
4th Place – Carl Sandberg 10.36 Lbs
5th Place – J.J. Wilson 10.20 Lbs
Co-angler Division:
1st Place – George Thrash 10.74 Lbs
2nd Place – Randy Mills 1.16 Lbs
Lunker honors were taken by Mike Murphy with a 4.65lb fish. Congratulations to all these fishermen. In Team News: We all know which team won, however the War Eagle Team made a valiant effort to get out of last place for this tournament turning in 54 points putting them in a tie with the Culprit Team. The deciding factor…..# of fish weighed. Final result - Culprits: 17; War Eagles: 16. I hate being dead last. War Eagle Team – we only have three tournaments left – let’s win one of these jokers!!!
Since I am a banker/#’s guy I figured I would share some statics with the club to compare through the first 7 tournaments of 2011 to the first 7 tournaments of the 2010 year.
2010 2011 Difference
Total number of fish weighed 352 401 +49
Total weight of fish weighed 642.81 825.27 +182.46
Average weight per fish weighed 1.83 2.06 +.23
Number of limits brought to the scales 32 54 + 22
Angler with most fish weighed JJ - 28 JJ – 35 + 7
Angler with most limits JJ – 4 JJ – 7 + 3
Angler with the most total weight MM – 58.85 JJ – 73.56 + 14.71
As you can see from the stats above, we are having a much better statistical year thus far in 2011 vs 2010. This is also being done with a few less members as well than we had last year. You can also see (and not that it is a surprise to anyone) that JJ Wilson is a fishing machine. He is the only angler to bring in a limit every tournament this year – that is pretty impressive! Let’s hope he can continue that streak through the remaining three tournaments of the year! If there are any other stats you would like to see let me know and I will see if there is a way to calculate them (depending on the data we have kept).
Only three tournaments remain – let’s continue building on what we got so far and finish strong! Reminder – each angler gets to cull two tournaments a year! This always plays a big factor in the overall points race this time of year so just because you have missed a few tournaments this year does not mean you are out of it – show up and make a run in the points race! Also, make note of the events below and make an effort to be there if you can. As usual – if there are any errors in the points/weights – let me know and I will get them corrected.
