November Newsletter - Providence Results

11 November, 2010 Newsletter

The Lake Providence two-day tournament was really good this year despite low water, high winds, and cold temperatures. Fortunately, the winds settled down on Saturday and the fishing was comfortable. Everyone caught fish on day one and nearly everyone on day two. There were 12 limits weighed in on day one, and only four limits on day two. We weighed in 78 fish for 137.66 lbs. on day one and 45 fish for 85.25 lbs. on day two. The totals for the tournament were 123 fish caught for a total weight of 222.91 lbs. This is the best Providence tournament we’ve had in many years. Carl Sandberg brought in a huge sack on day two with 15.77 lbs. and a two-day total of 25.33 lbs.!!

The top fishermen were:
Boater Division
1st Place – Carl Sandberg 25.33 Lbs.
2nd Place – Mike Melton 21.56 Lbs.
3rd Place – Larry Lowery 16.71 Lbs.
4th Place – T.J. Hare Jr. 13.74 Lbs.
5th Place – J.J. Wilson 13.59 Lbs.

Co-angler Division
1st Place – Chris Dill 16.27 Lbs.
2nd Place – Randy Mills 7.24 Lbs.
3rd Place – Bob Westerfield 2.28 Lbs.

The first day Lunker honors were taken by Paul Pickel with a 3.18 fish.
The second day Lunker honors were taken by Mike Melton with a 6.03 fish.

Congratulations to all these fishermen.

The Dead Ringers took Team honors for the year at the last tournament. At the end of the Providence Tournament the Scum Frogs moved into “First Losers” place with the Culprits in the last place. Great job Dead Ringers! Congratulations to J.J. Wilson and all his team members.

The members of the Jackson Bass Club owe a big “Thank You” to Robert Bailey for pulling our bacon out of the fire and being able to put our steaks on the fire!!!! The big BBQ pit broke an axle on the way to Providence and Robert had to leave it on the shoulder of I-20. He ran around to all the stores he could find and bought portable grills in order to cook up the fantastic meal we are used to. Needless to say the dinner was great and Robert and his assistant, Chris Dill did a bang-up job! I’ll say it first – Thanks Robert!

Two Day Tournament - Lake Providence, LA

The final tournament of the year is coming up this weekend - it is our annual two day tournament on Lake Providence Saturday and Sunday November 6th and 7th. Right now it looks like we are going to have a good turn out. This is always a good time for our club so I hope everyone can make it. The steaks have been ordered and Robert Bailey will be present to cook us up a tremendous meal as always.

Looking at the weather forecast it looks like it is going to be chilly. Saturday the low is 34 with a high of 62, Sunday looks like a low of 36 and high of 67 with sunny skies both days. So come prepared and lets finish out the year on a high note.
