March 7th Newsletter - Lake Bruin Results

The 2011 JBC tournament year is off and running. Our first tournament is in the books and let me say that Bruin was much improved from last year (and it didn’t take much). Hard to believe I am typing this, but I am glad we caught Bruin on a rainy /windy day. Based on the pre-fishing reports I heard, it looks like the weather really improved the bite. We had 15 Anglers and 2 Co-Anglers show up and brave the weather. In total we weighed 51 fish for a total of 106.90 lbs. Congrats go to J.J. Wilson for bringing 15.39lbs to the scale and taking first place on the Angler side – quite impressive! Below are your top Anglers from Lake Bruin.

Angler Division:
1st Place – J.J. Wilson 15.39 Lbs
2nd Place – Greg Horne 11.82 Lbs
3rd Place – Dan Stokes 9.38 Lbs
4th Place – Carl Sandberg 8.78 Lbs
5th Place – Joel Peeler 8.07 Lbs

Co-angler Division:
1st Place – Hunter Edwards 4.29 Lbs

Lunker honors were taken by J.J. Wilson with a 4.29lb fish. Congratulations to all these fishermen. Big surprise here I am sure, but JJ’s team the Dead Ringers put it on the Culprits and War Eagles again to win the first tournament team honors. That man knows how to put together a team!!

Hunter Edwards is a new member to the JBC so please take time to introduce yourself to him and make him feel welcome. From looking above, it is obvious it didn’t take him long to settle in as he now leads the co-angler division by 15 points! (I am interested to talk with him and see how many times he hit that new power pole on Peeler’s boat)

Upcoming events
• The General Membership Meeting will be at Sal and Phils Tuesday March 15th.
• Point tournament on Ross Barnett Saturday March 19th.

We have a couple of boaters whose insurance expires prior to our next tournament. I will be getting with each of you this week, please get your renewal policy to me as quickly as possible so it will not affect your eligibility for the upcoming tournament.

Please go ahead and mark your calenders for Saturday September 10th for our annual JBC Fish Fry out at Lake Caroline. There will be more details sent out as we approach the date but this is always a good time of food and fellowship for our club.

I am planning to have the JBC Manuals ready by this next General Membership Meeting (Tuesday March 15th) so please make every effort to attend this meeting and pick up your manual. It is important to be familiar with this manual as it contains everything you need to know about the club from membership to tournament rules to the club by-laws. There are changes from year to year and it is really easy to miss something if you don’t keep up to date.

We all need to make every effort to bring in new members. We all know people who may be interested and we need both boaters and co-anglers. We still want the best members we can get, and I’m sure we can entice some new folks into the JBC with all we have to offer in the form of fun and fellowship. I have heard some speculation that there could be a couple of prospective members at the next general membership meeting so lets all be there and make them feel welcome.

As stated above, the next General Membership meeting is on Tuesday March 15th at Sal and Phils in Ridgeland. We hope to see you there.
