Tournament #4 Results and May Newsletter

Well, another tournament on Ross Barnett equals another cold and windy day! After a week of summer like conditions, Saturday’s tournament was met with a dry cold front blowing through with the sun never showing its face. However, from the stats below it looks like as a club we had a good day in terms of numbers of fish. In total we weighed 80 fish for a total of 134.41 lbs. 9 anglers weighed in limits. Not too bad considering the weather conditions. Congrats to Johnnie Baker for winning the Angler division with 5 fish that weighed 10.62lbs. Randy Mills won the Co-Angler division with a 5 fish limit that weighed 10.83lbs. Below are the top anglers from this weekend.

Angler Division:
1st Place – Johnnie Baker 10.62 Lbs
2nd Place – Joel Peeler 10.38 Lbs
3rd Place – JJ Wilson 8.72 Lbs
4th Place – RB Shephard 8.35 Lbs
5th Place – Larry Lowery 7.52 Lbs

Co-angler Division:
1st Place – Randy Mills 10.83 Lbs
2nd Place – George Thrash 8.45 Lbs
3rd Place – Hunter Edwards 7.46 Lbs

Lunker honors were taken by Joel Peeler with a 6.01lb big daddy fish. This fish now leads the lunker of the year category! Congratulations to all these fishermen. JJ’s team won again – big surprise.

Reminder - everyone please remember the importance of wearing your life jackets while running on the lake. Never mind that it is a tournament rule that all life jackets be worn and kill switches hooked up while the big motor is running – it is the smart thing to do, especially in the rough water conditions we have been having lately on Ross Barnett. Let’s not let something terrible happen by being lazy! As much as we are all out on the water it is easy to take for granted the safe operation of a boat, however you never know when something bad can happen and we all need to be prepared.

I also want to take this time to thank RB Shephard and Steven Bailey for helping me out Saturday when my trolling motor busted. RB took time out on the water to try and help me fix it and then took Randy Mills for me so he could continue to fish. Steven Bailey came all the way to Tommy’s to let me jump in with him so I could continue to fish after trailering my boat. Because of these guys Randy and I were able to continue on fishing (Randy ended up with the most weight of the day) and earn our points for this tournament. I also had several folks check on me and my boat when I got back to the weigh in. In my opinion this is what the club is all about. Many of you have experienced this kind of effort by our members over the years, but this was my first experience with it and I can’t tell you how much I appreciated it. Keep up the good work guys!
