Newsletter - Tournament 1 Lake Bruin Results

Our first tournament for 2012 is in the books. After forecasts all week of rain for Saturday, March 10 the weather ended up being sunny with wind out of the east. Nothing like fluctuating weather and wind to mix up the fishing for everyone! Overall we had 21 anglers make the trip to Lake Bruin. In total we weighed 61 fish for a total of 113.66 lbs for an average fish of 1.86lbs. (Last year on Bruin we had 17 anglers weigh 51 fish for 106.90lbs for an average fish of 2.10lbs). At the end of the day, JJ Wilson had the biggest bag totaling 14.51 lbs to win the tournament. This also marks back to back wins on Bruin for JJ. Congrats!! 2nd Place – Carl Sandberg             11.79 Lbs
3rd Place – TJ Hare, Jr.                    7.93 Lbs
4th Place – Marvin Freeman             7.13 Lbs
5th Place – Micheal Clark                6.93 Lbs

Lunker honors were taken by Jeff Hankins with a 4.23lb fish. Something to note: Jeff Hankins has now fished two tournaments with the JBC (one last year and now one this year) and he has won the Lunker Pot both times! This might turn into a money circuit for Jeff! Congratulations to all these fishermen. And as if the broken record never ends – JJ’s team won the first tournament of the year. I will say this – the team race was very close and should be interesting to watch this year. JJ’s team won by only 5 points and his team was fishing with the most anglers (8). RB’s team (Slurpies) came in second with 7 anglers fishing and my team (Strike King) came in third (only 2 points behind the Slurpies) with only 6 anglers. Can’t wait to see these teams battle it out this year.

Upcoming events

• The March General Membership Meeting will be at Sal and Phils Tuesday March 20th.
• Point tournament on Ross Barnett Saturday March 24th.

We have SEVERAL boaters whose insurance expires prior to our next tournament.. These anglers are: RB Sheppard, Johnnie Baker, Charlie Moore, Mike Overall, Austin Banks, Jr. Also new boaters – Hunter Edwards (who had it for me at Bruin but I forgot to get it from him), Jeff Hankins, Randy Mills. If your name is not mentioned above it means I have a current policy on you for now. We have two weeks until our next tournament along with a general membership meeting – so please either fax your policy to me (601-208-6823), email it to me (csandberg@trustmark.com) or bring it to our next general membership meeting. Everyone fishing out of their boat Saturday March 24th will have to have me a current policy or you will be ineligible to fish. Please email me or call me if you have any questions on this.

I am planning to have our JBC Manuals ready by this next General Membership Meeting (Tuesday March 24th) so please make every effort to attend this meeting and pick up your manual. It is important to be familiar with this manual as it contains everything you need to know about the club from membership to tournament rules to the club by-laws. There are changes from year to year and it is really easy to miss something if you don’t keep up to date.
